Dovestar nodded at Darkmist. She swallowed. She could see the caves of CaveClan up ahead, past Bracken Hill. They would have to travel until maybe Sunset, she thought wearily. They would be hungry, and they could not hunt here. This was CaveClan's territory. She sighed. They would eat when they went home. She had gone without eating all day many times before. Her and Darkmist would be fine. She trotted on. She was nervous of falling into a rabbit-hole hidden under the snow. She she stepped carefully.

Darkmist licked Dovestar's shoulder. "It's okay, maybe Honeystar will let us stay the night." He meowed quietly, looking at Dovestar worried about her.

"Maybe," mewed Dovestar. She trotted briskly. It was already Sunhigh. "We should go quickly. If she won't let us stay, then we'd better take the least time that we can." She slipped on a patch of ice that she had not seen. She fell down. She grunted, stood up and shook some snow off of her. She hadn't been paying attention.

Darkmist gasped. He ran to Dovestar's side. Darkmist tried to help her up. "Are you okay?" He asked licking her cheek.

"yes, yes." mewed Dovestar warily. "Sorry, I wasn't paying attention." she licked his ear, before turning around. "Let's go." she mewed again. Then she set off again. She saw a rabbit hopping by. But she could not catch it. She sighed. She was starting to feel the hunger in her stomach. She tried to think of other things. She thought of Darkmist. Her head swam with images of him. She turned back to Darkmist and pressed her side against his, so that they were walking side by side.

Darkmist smiled, nuzzling Dovestar. "I should have caught you something before we crossed the border." He meowed angry at himself for being so stupid. "I'm sorry." He added.

"No,no" mewed Dovestar, "We did not know that we would be coming here." she meowed. She pressed her muzzle into his fur. "I love you," she whispered. She looked up again. She did not want to trip again. She trotted faster. "Come on," she mewed worriedly, looking up at the sun. "We must hurry." Dovestar broke into a run, racing through the snow.

Darkmist sighed, smiling. He ran after Dovestar. He caught up to her. "I love you too." He meowed looking at her with loving eyes. The caves where getting closer.

Dovestar smiled at him, then ran on. She wondered why a patrol had not stopped them by now, or even spotted them. They were making no attempt to hide at all. Maybe something was wrong with CaveClan. She felt worried.

Dovestar swallowed and nodded. Finally, they had reached the cliff. It loomed high above them. How could caveClan stand being so high? It didn't matter. CaveClan's camp was in a cave at the base of the cliff. She trotted on. She looked to Darkmist, "Ready?" she mewed.

Dovestar looked into his eyes, "Yes," she meowed with the authority of a leader. She smiled at him, and gave him a lick on the ear. She pranced into the cave.
