Dovestar licked Darkmist's cheek in return, then let the kits drink her milk. She gazed down at their tiny shapes, her heart filled with adoration. She would make sure that these kits grew up well, and she would protect them at all costs. Suddenly she felt a pang of sadness. 'The wellbeing of the Clan comes before the wellbeing of any one cat.' She knew this rule well, after all she was Clan leader. But her heart lightened when she realized that these kits were the Clan's future; they would be protected. But after she thought that, she felt guilty and vain. No she told herself, All of MoonClan's kits will be protected just as these ones will be. Kits are the Clan's future. I'm allowed to be happy for my kits. There's nothing wrong with that. She bent her head down to lick Nightkit on the head.

(ooc: sorry, that was a bad post, I was running out of things to say...)

Darkmist watched Dovestar and the kits. They squirmed about, trying to keep warm as they drank Dovestar's milk. He nuzzled her. "Everything alright?" He asked, noticing that she was thinking pretty hard about something. He didn't know what it was, but he wished he did. Darkmist waited for a reply.

(ooc: it's ok. mine have been short lately too. haha)

Dovestar nodded. "Yes," she meowed, "Everything's fine." She gazed into Darkmist's eyes and smiled. "In fact, everything's just perfect." She licked his cheek lovingly and closed her eyes in contentment.

Darkmist nodded. "Yeah.." He whispered. "You should get some sleep now." He added quietly, licking her face gently. Darkmist wanted to stay in the warm nursery, and since there wasn't anyone else in it he figured he would be able to. But he decided that he should ask Dovestar first. "Do you want me to sleep in here tonight?" He asked, looking at Dovestar with a smile on his face.

Dovestar smiled at Darkmist. "Yes, that be wonderful." she mewed, and yawned. She wrapped her tail around her kits to keep them warm, then lay her head wearily down onto her paws. She was exhausted. Who knew that having kits could take so much of her energy away? It had only been a short while ago that she had stumbled from her den, trying to get to the nursery. But it felt like whole seasons ago to Dovestar.

Darkmist smiled and curled up next to Dovestar, their pelts touching. "I love you." He whispered in her ear and he washed her face lovingly. He watched her lay her head down and put his head ontop of the back of her neck and closed his eyes, taking in her sweet scent that was mingling with their kits new scents. He couldn't be happier. Darkmist slowly closed his eyes.

Dovestar purred softly, and mewed "I love you too, Darkmist." She smiled as her eyes closed, thinking of her mate and their new kits. She could almost feel the love flowing through the air, in the nursery. She thought of the many suns ahead which would be spent here, caring for the kits. She purred, and slowly drifted off to sleep.

Darkmist didn't fall asleep right away. He listened to the soft breathing of Dovestar and the little kits. He opened his eyes and looked at the kits for a while. They were all so beautiful. So tiny and delicate. But one day, they would all grow up and become strong members of the clan. He smiled again and slowly his eyes closed and he fell into a dreamless sleep.
